PPAMcon
2006 Parameters

The parameters for the PPAMcon Conference are negotiable so as to satisfy the requirements of both the major sponsor and those of Management Solutions (Qld).

Length of Conference

Option 1: three days

The Conference will be conducted over 3 days – with plenary and concurrent sessions conducted on Days 1 and 2 and Workshops on Day 3. Relevant field trips and networking functions will be accommodated in the Congress timetable where appropriate.

Option 2: two days

This would possibly include one and a half days of congress sessions with the last part of day two being allocated to workshops or to roundtable discussions.

Management Solutions (Qld) is able to respond to whatever choice the sponsor decides.

Timing

The timing of PPAMcon is determined in conjunction with the host. It is preferred that the congress be held in May - June - July.

Location

The major sponsor would be able to assist in the selection of the conference venue dependent on availability and suitability.

Congress Market

PPAMcon is essential for practitioners involved in World Heritage Areas, National Parks, Marine Parks, Conservation Parks and Reserves, State Forests, Recreation Reserves and Indigenous land managers. In addition PPAMcon will be of interest to policy makes in local, state and federal government, key interest groups, tourism organisations, community groups, peak industry associations, academics and researchers.

Our experience in running other related conferences indicates that the market for this congress would be:

  • Commonwealth and state environmental and national park agencies
  • Natural resource management bodies
  • Local government
  • Economic development departments
  • Treasuries
  • Tourism bodies (Commonwealth, State and Regional)
  • Commercial tourism operators
  • Academics across a wide range of disciplines (politics, economics, environment, agricultural economics, tourism)
  • Indigenous organisations
  • Environmental/conservation groups
  • Community groups
  • Regional economic development organisations
  • Tourism associations (Ecotourism Association of Australia)
  • Farming and rural organisations at national and state levels
  • Industrial enterprises
  • Professional associations (planning, design, architecture)

Delegate Numbers

Given the breadth of interest in the topic and provided there was a reasonable timeframe for promotion anticipated numbers would be 100 - 150.
